TYM was created by a family with one shared belief: swimming lessons can be better.
Our founding team brings together experience in education, coaching and competitive swimming. Two of our founders are qualified school teachers, two are former national-level competitive swimmers, and everyone has coaching qualifications. We’ve pooled that experience to create a company that puts people first.
We’re family run. We care about our swimmers and our teachers. We know people by name. And we teach differently.

Meet our lead teachers
Libby Smith - Surrey
Lead swimming teacher & TYM founderLibby has nine years’ experience in the swimming industry. From leading competitive squads and delivering school swimming programmes to teaching 1:1 lessons, SEND swimming and supporting those with a fear of water.
Libby is also a qualified primary school teacher with a First Class degree in Primary Education. She currently teaches Reception.
Libby has a love for helping people become confident and safe in the water. She is passionate about creating swimming opportunities for everyone.
Libby can often be found playing mermaids & finding excuses to demo jumping in!
Katie Smith - Manchester
Katie brings a wealth of swimming experience to Tym, having previously competed at national level as a competitive swimmer. She has taught swimmers of all ages, stages and abilities, including delivering swimming programmes at highly acclaimed private schools across Surrey.
From running holiday camps and coaching squads to delivering private 1:1 lessons and creating bespoke swimming packages, Katie has a wide range of expertise.
Katie can often be found making up games for 3-year-olds one day and coaching 93-year-olds the next! She loves helping swimmers build confidence, improve their technique and enjoy being in the water and she’s exceptionally good at correcting a breaststroke leg kick!
